General Questions
How does it work?

All of our courses are online and are accessible at your convenience once you receive your course link email.  After you have received your course link, you will be able log on and off from any computer that meets the technical requirements.  The system will save your progress.

Please note, course link emails may not be sent for up to twelve hours.  If your need for a Course Link is immediate, please contact us at 816-246-1100.  Messages are monitored sixteen hours a day, and a representative will expedite your order.

All of our courses come with access for two parents to receive certificates of completion at no additional cost.  Parents may choose to watch the course together or separately as needs dictate, but must complete individual quizzes.  Spousal options are detailed in the Introduction to each course.

Courses incorporate audio, video and graphics to insure a complete learning experience and are designed so that the learner watches a module and then takes a brief quiz to show understanding.  Learners are allowed two attempts at a quiz before needing to contact us for assistance. While only the rare student will need additional assistance, we are happy to aid in your understanding of the material if necessary.

How do I register?
Select your courses, add them to your shopping cart and then proceed to checkout.  When registering, be sure to use your name as it appears on your credit card and your address as shown on your billing statement.  If you have a spouse who needs a certificate, be sure to provide their email address during the registration process.
What do I need to know about spouses' registration?
In order for your spouse to receive a certificate of completion you must provide us with their unique email address so that they can be registered. All purchases include the option to register a spouse or partner at no additional charge.
Can my spouse and I watch this together?
If you indicated that you are completing the coursework as a couple, you will each receive your own login information. This allows a couple to watch the content on the primary account and for each to complete the quizzes on their own account. A more detailed explanation of completing the course as a couple can be found in the Introduction section of your course.
What if I complete the course and I do not receive my certificate of completion within 24 hours?
Sometimes these emails are misdirected as junk/spam so please check these folders first before contacting us at info@heartofthemattereducation.com
Can I get a refund if I decide not to take a course?
Courses are refundable only within 24 hours of purchase and only if the course has not been opened.  If a refund is granted, a $25.00 processing fee will be deducted to cover administrative charges. For consideration of a refund, contact info@heartofthemattereducation.com and provide your name, order number, and reason for cancellation.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Heart of the Matter accepts Visa, MasterCard or American Express. Be sure to use the billing address and phone number for your card. Your transaction will be processed in a secured (https) link that does not retain your credit card information. If you believe your payment was declined in error, email us at info@heartofthemattereducation.com .
Once I purchase, how do I get started?
Once your payment has been accepted, you will receive both an Order Confirmation email and a Payment Confirmation email.  If you do not receive the Payment Confirmation email, your credit card was not charged and your order can not be processed.  Please either place the order again or contact us at 816-246-1100.

You should receive your course link via email within the hour. If you do not receive your access link within 2 hours, please contact us at 816-246-1100.  Messages are monitored sixteen hours a day, and a representative will expedite your order.

Technical Support
What do I do if the course is buffering?
This almost always signals a connectivity problem.  Try a different device or a different internet connection.  You may also find it helpful to try a different browser.  

If you are using a mobile device, please know that while all our courses are able to be completed via smart phone or tablet, we recommend using a computer for optimal viewing.

Having trouble accessing the video portion of the course?

If the progress bar says playing but there is no video or audio, place your cursor back at the beginning of the slide and click. You will now be able to watch the slide with all of its content.


I've reached the end of a section and don't know how to move on to the next.
To advance, you will either:

1. Find a button at the bottom of the screen that says, "Completed. Let's continue."  Simply click this button to advance to the next section.  

2. Close the window/tab, popup window to get back to the previous screen.  This will allow you to click on the next section to move forward.


In some instances, you may have to scroll down to the bottom of your computer, tablet or phone screen to see the continue button.

If you have not viewed the section in its entirety, the button will read "Incomplete" and you will be unable to move forward until it is complete.

Note:  If you switch devices (for example you view 1 module on your phone and the next on your laptop) this sometimes causes an error that will stop you from advancing.  We strongly suggest viewing your coursework all on one device.  If you have experienced this error and are unable to advance please contact us for assistance.
How do I get a certificate of completion?
After the final quiz has been completed you will be given instructions to apply for a certificate of completion.  This application only takes a few seconds to submit.  Within 24 hours of your submission, your account will be reviewed to confirm appropriate time in the system and passing scores on each quiz.   You will then be notified that your certificate is ready and you will be able to download the certificate directly from your learning account.

When applying for a certificate and a parenting plan for our course, Parent Planning for Special Needs Adoption, the time frame is slightly different. Because of the personal attention given to the review of the Parenting Plan, it can take up to 48 hours to receive information regarding your account.
Can my spouse and I watch this together?
If you indicated that you are completing the coursework as a couple, you will each receive your own login information. This allows a couple to watch the content on the primary account and for each to complete the quizzes on their own account. How can my spouse get a certificate of completion, too?
If you signed your spouse up during registration, they should have received their own unique link.  While your "Primary" Because They Waited account will require all elements be completed in order to receive a certificate, your "Spousal" account will allow your spouse to bypass all content except for quizzes.  In this way you can watch the coursework together, but quiz for certificates separately.  Please note, however, if your spouse has not watched the content with you, they  should still access and watch all pieces before quizzing to ensure success.
What if I forgot to sign my spouse up during registration?
No problem!  Simply email us at info@heartofthemattereducation.com and we will be glad to set up the spousal account for you.
